Established on September 1st, 1961, Autos Costasol, S.A. was the first car rental firm on the Costa del Sol. From the beginning the company focused on innovative, first class car hire service at Malaga airport, in Marbella and the whole Costa del Sol for customers from all over the world. In 1967 Autos Marisa Rent-a-Car in Marbella was founded and in 1972 both companies merged and is known until today as Autos Costasol Marisa with Marisa Arroyo at its helm ever since.

In 1972 the company moved its main car hire office to the present location in Calle 3 C, Parcela 327 C in the brand new urbanisation of Andalucía La Nueva, which has eventually changed to the current address of Calle Rosalía de Castro, 5, but in some neighbourhoods of Nueva Andalucía, as the urbanisation is now called, you can still find the old street numbering system.

At about this time also the company logo, known by many Costa del Sol tourists and representing the names of the three founders Marisa, Antonio and Åke, was created:
